Holiday Prep & New Stuff
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a blog update, mostly because I keep getting distracted whenever I sit down to write one.
The kiddos are back in school, and I now have a few hours a day to myself which is very odd. I haven’t had any time alone in four and a half years. The Remi dog isn’t handling it well either, judging by the fact she cries all day for her boys.
I’ve been spending my time attempting to organize the studio for the impending holiday rush. Spoiler alert: It’s not working. However, I have a bunch of new designs that will be posted as soon as I get a chance to photograph and list them. Writing item descriptions are almost as hard as taking photos without reflections, which is saying something. And as much as it pains me to think that it’s almost December, I have been working on some new Christmas ornaments, so if there’s something you’d like to see, please let me know. My current designs feature multi-layer wood and acrylic as well as some engraved steel ornaments.
It feels incredibly odd to be thinking about Christmas when the kids just went back to school, but unfortunately the holidays sneak up super fast. I’m putting together my holiday ordering and shipping dates, but I’m not sure how accurate they’ll be if this season goes anything like last year. If you were lucky enough to miss the chaos of last year, November to January all items were significantly delayed. The majority of my packages left me and went four hours north to Buffalo before heading out to their destinations. However, it took them two weeks between being picked up and hitting the sort facility in Buffalo. A package I shipped to Boston (five hours) took a month and a half and completely missed Christmas. Shipping costs are increasing across all carriers starting October 1st, so if you are able, please try to order as soon as you can to save yourself a little on shipping.
And now a sneak peek at one of the new Christmas ornaments coming soon…
