Spooky Season Reads (that aren't scary): Part Two

I’m back with another round of not scary books that are great to read during the Spooky Season. The last round of books featured ghosts, and this time around it’s time for some witchy books. If you missed the first round, to recap: I haven’t been a scary book reader since I outgrew Fear Street, but I still want to read spooky-ish things during October, so I came up with a list of stuff that’s spooky adjacent.

Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas - The third book in the Throne of Glass series introduces us to the Ironteeth and Crochan witches and their war. It also gives us Manon who is my absolute favorite character of the series.

The Black Witch by Laurie Forest - Elloren is the granddaughter of the Black Witch, the woman who single handedly drove back the enemy forces and saved their people. Elloren looks exactly like her grandmother and people both worship and fear her power… except Elloren doesn’t have any…

The Omen of Stones by Casey L. Bond - The second book in the When Wishes Bleed series, full of magic, witches, and Fate.

The Witch Handbook to Magic and Mayhem by Tish Thawer - Five sisters and a magic shop that goes haywire.

After the Forest by Kell Woods - Hansel and Gretel twenty years later… and Gretel (Greta) may have some magic of her own…

The Buried and the Bound by Rochelle Hassan - A hedgewitch and a perpetually cursed boy make a deal to break his curse.

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher - Mara joins forces with a ragtag team (gravewitch, disgraced ex-knight, reluctant fairy godmother, a dog made of bones and the witch’s familiar—a chicken) in order to save her sister from an abusive husband.

The Blood Witch by Ivy Asher - Book two of the Osseous Chronicles follows Lennox, a reluctant bone witch as she tries to solve the mystery of her binding to Rogan.

The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco - Tea discovers that she’s not only an elemental witch, but a necromancer (Bone Witch) after she accidentally resurrects her dead brother.

Bewitched by Laura Thalassa - Selene desperately wants a coven of her own, but her magic steals her memories when she uses it.

The High Mountain Court by A.K. Mulford - Remy may be the last Red Witch alive and is determined not to be slaughtered by the Northern Court King. Prince Hale of the Eastern Court needs a Red Witch, can they work together to save both their kingdoms?
